Can chickens eat cilantro?

Why
Cilantro is non-toxic to chickens and offers vitamins and antioxidants that can support their overall health. However, because it is a treat and not a complete food, it must be offered in small amounts to ensure the birds still eat their balanced diet.
If you do feed it
- Offer only fresh, washed leaves in small quantities as an occasional treat
- Chop the cilantro into smaller pieces to make it easier for chickens to eat
- Ensure the cilantro is free from pesticides and wilted parts before feeding
- Limit treats to no more than 10% of the chicken's total daily food intake
Watch out for
- Sweetened or seasoned cilantro dishes meant for humans
- Large quantities of cilantro seeds or roots which may be less palatable
- Moldy or spoiled cilantro
