Can dogs eat mushrooms?
If your dog has already eaten this and you are worried, contact your veterinarian.
Why
Many wild mushrooms contain deadly toxins that can cause organ failure, seizures, or death, and it is nearly impossible for a pet owner to distinguish between safe and poisonous species without expert testing. Even store-bought mushrooms can pose risks if they are contaminated or if the dog has an individual sensitivity.
Watch out for
- wild mushrooms of any kind
- mushrooms found in yards or forests
- mushrooms with unknown origins
- mushrooms mixed with garlic, onions, or butter
