Can chickens eat pineapple?

Why

Pineapple is non-toxic to chickens and contains beneficial vitamins, though its high sugar content means it should be offered sparingly to avoid digestive upset. The tough skin and core are difficult to digest, so only the soft flesh should be given.

If you do feed it

• Remove the tough outer skin and the hard central core before feeding.
• Cut the fruit into small, bite-sized pieces to prevent choking.
• Limit treats to no more than 10% of their daily diet.
• Offer fresh pineapple only, never canned or sweetened versions.
