If you do feed it

• Peel the banana and offer only small chunks (about 1/4 of a medium banana per bird) as an occasional treat.
• Serve the fruit fresh and at room temperature; avoid frozen or overly ripe mushy pieces.
• Limit treats to no more than 10% of the chicken's total daily food intake.
• Remove any uneaten banana pieces after a few hours to prevent spoilage and pests.

Watch out for

• Sweetened or candied banana products
• Banana peels that are dirty or treated with pesticides
• Moldy or fermented fruit
• Large quantities given in a single sitting
