Can cats eat tomatoes?

Why

Unripe tomatoes and the green parts of the plant contain solanine, which is toxic to cats and can cause digestive upset or more serious symptoms. Even ripe tomatoes should be given sparingly because the acidity can upset a cat's stomach.

• Only offer fully ripe, red tomato flesh with all green stems, leaves, and skin removed.
• Serve in tiny, occasional amounts as a treat, not a regular part of the diet.
