Can cats eat strawberries?

Why

Cats are obligate carnivores and do not need fruit in their diet, while the high sugar content can upset their stomach or contribute to weight gain. Additionally, the seeds and leaves can pose a minor choking hazard or cause digestive irritation if consumed in quantity.

If you do feed it

• Offer only one small, fresh piece of strawberry without the green leaves or stem.
• Wash the fruit thoroughly to remove pesticides before cutting it into tiny, bite-sized pieces.
• Treats should make up no more than 10% of your cat's daily calorie intake.
• Discontinue immediately if you notice any vomiting, diarrhea, or signs of an allergic reaction.
