Can cats eat beef?

Why

Beef provides high-quality protein that cats need, but it should never replace their complete and balanced cat food. Raw beef carries a risk of harmful bacteria, and fatty cuts can trigger pancreatitis, so only lean, fully cooked meat is appropriate.

• Serve only plain, lean beef that has been thoroughly cooked with no added salt, spices, or oils.
• Limit beef to less than 10% of your cat's daily calorie intake to prevent nutritional imbalances.
• Cut the meat into small, bite-sized pieces to make it easy for your cat to chew and digest.
• Always remove any visible fat or gristle before serving to avoid stomach upset.

Watch out for

• Raw beef or undercooked meat
• Fatty cuts, bacon, or processed beef products
• Beef seasoned with onions, garlic, or excessive salt
• Beef bones which can splinter and cause internal damage
