Can dogs eat salmon fish?
If your dog has already eaten this and you are worried, contact your veterinarian.
Why
Raw or undercooked salmon can carry a parasite that causes a fatal illness in dogs, and the fish bones can cause serious internal injuries. Even cooked salmon should be served without added seasonings, oils, or butter, as these can upset your dog's stomach.
If you do feed it
- Serve only fully cooked, boneless flesh with no skin or seasoning.
- Limit treats to a small portion relative to your dog's size.
- Introduce slowly to check for digestive upset.
- Never feed raw, smoked, or cured salmon.
Watch out for
