Can dogs eat pickle?

Why
Pickles are made with a lot of salt and vinegar, which can upset your dog's stomach or lead to excessive thirst and sodium poisoning if eaten in large quantities. The high acidity can also cause digestive discomfort or vomiting in sensitive dogs.
If you do feed it
- Offer only a small piece of a plain pickle with no added spices, garlic, or onions.
- Limit treats to less than 10% of their daily calorie intake and ensure fresh water is available.
- Avoid pickles that contain garlic, onions, or excessive sugar, as these are toxic or unhealthy for dogs.
Watch out for
- Garlic and onion powder (toxic)
- Excessive salt content
- Sweetened or spicy varieties
- Whole pickles that might be a choking hazard
