Can dogs eat oranges?
If your dog has already eaten this and you are worried, contact your veterinarian.
Why
Oranges are not toxic to dogs and provide vitamin C, but the high sugar content can cause stomach upset or weight gain if overfed. The thick peel and seeds are difficult to digest and can pose a choking hazard or cause intestinal blockage.
If you do feed it
- Remove all seeds and the thick white pith before offering fruit.
- Limit treats to one or two small segments for an average-sized dog.
- Introduce slowly to check for any digestive sensitivity.
- Avoid canned or sweetened orange products entirely.
