- Offer only as an occasional treat, not a meal replacement

- Whole stalks or large chunks that pose a choking risk
- Celery leaves which can be tough and stringy
- Prepared celery with added salt, butter, or seasonings
- Celery seed supplements which are not suitable for dogs
